Debt Hits Hard - Campus Progress - Center for American Progress

As the cost of college skyrockets and financial aid shrinks, student and credit debt hit students and families hard, limiting opportunity and mobility for millions of Americans.

>> Ease the debt burden on young people by creating more protections for student loan and credit card borrowers and by reducing the amount students must borrow by increasing need-based grant aid and decreasing college costs.

>> Expand access to higher education by reducing barriers to entry – financial and otherwise.

>> Reform the financial aid system to reduce waste and abuse, increase investment in higher education, and make sure that financial aid dollars on the campus, state, and federal level are used to expand access.
